Fluffy Indecisive Me

I'm feeling a bit fluffy since Christmas, and the dramatic change in hair length has become something I love/hate. Oddly, I think it's more to do with the reactions of others around me that has both surprised me and made me wonder if it's too short. I'm blessed that my husband likes it (or that's what he keeps telling me anyway), and it is easier in some ways than having such long hair.

I think though I need to find more options for how to style it for now. I've been doing a basic pin curl set and comb out, but that's it. So, I guess it's off to youtube, lol.

One thing that definitely comes with a middy haircut is that it commits you to a more vintage look even in modern clothes. So, it's actually better for your vintage wardrobe. At the same time, you do look more vintage or possibly costumey. Which I'm okay with, lol.

I realize I haven't posted any new sewing for a long time, but I promise I am still sewing and have lots of sewing plans for the new year in store for the blog. Up till Christmas, I was doing a lot of sewing for my kids and others and just didn't feel like posting and didn't have time to post much of it. (If that's something you'd like to see in the future, let me know.) Since Christmas I decided to tackle my mending/repair sewing pile, again nothing postworthy. But I'm hoping that will all change with a big announcement coming on the blog in February.

Outfit Details:

Earrings-vintage matching pearl earrings, wedding gift from my grandma

All in all, I'm excited about what's in store for this year and I hope to jump back in with more sewing posts very soon.

Do you want to see all sewing I do, or just the vintage sewing?

  1. Your hair looks lovely! I am determined to learn how to style mine differently after a highly frustrating session with my curling iron before I went out on Saturday night. Your outfit looks great! I think you should post your other sewing as well, I always love seeing what people are getting up to, even if it is not vintage

  2. Thank you, Kaitlyn! I do a lot of sewing for our kids and home. I've not done much of any sewing lately, but will definitely start posting other projects.
My hair is naturally very curly, so it holds curl well better without heat. Plus I am no good with curling irons, lol. They kind of scare me, especially since I have small kids around while I'm fixing my hair :/

    1. Unfortunately my hair has no natural curl. It's lovely and thick, which scares me off doing much with it. I want to start experimenting more with rollers and rags, because I prefer that look, and the curling iron experience was awful.

    2. I didn't think I could keep curl, other than letting it do it's natural thing, until I tried doing vintage wet sets. Every time I used a curling iron to try and have looser, more controlled, curls, they fell flat after about an hour or two because I have a lot of hair, but it's very fine. I'd encourage you to play around with your hair, because after you get fast at doing a set, it only takes about ten minutes or so (even with my longer hair). I usually let my hair mostly air dry and just dampen the ends before rolling. With my shorter cut, I can get up before the kids, shower, let it dry a little, set it, and let it dry (about 1-2 hours) and have my hair done in plenty of time to run errands or whatever, and I can make it last at least two days.

    3. Thanks for the advice! I'm certainly going to try and get my hair under control before I go back to uni in a month

    4. I definitely wish I had spent the time figuring this stuff out before I had kids, lol. It will save you time one day.
